What if I or my family member is talking of or thinking about committing suicide?
Take all talk of suicide seriously, contact the suicide helpline at 1-800-784-2433 or have the family member taken to an emergency room immediately to receive help.

What support groups are available for family members and/or consumers?
The National Alliance for the Mentally Ill of Louisiana offers family educational classes and/or support through its Journey of Hope and Visions for Tomorrow programs. What is Medicaid and how can I receive it?
The Advocacy Center for the Elderly and Disabled helps those with mental illness apply for and receive Medicaid information. They can be reached at 1-800-960-7705. You can also obtain information at the following website: http://cms.hhs.gov.
